McElroy Boats LLC. give each customer free rein to custom design his or her own electric vessel.
“The business model is to provide an outlet for the local guys to participate in the design and construction of their electric boats,” McElroy said. “I want them all to be different.” Customers can request boats ranging from 16 to 26 feet in length, with different passenger capacities; and they can decide whether the vessel will be all-electric or a hybrid. “You design it, or I will,” he said. “Anything is possible.”
